YEREVAN. – The economic potential of Armenia will not get lost in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

Non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) member, former MP, and economist Vardan Bostanjyan stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Thursday.

In his view, Armenia’s former status as an industrial country will reach all the way to the known level.

The former MP recalled that although Armenia had made up solely one percent of the ex-USSR in terms of territory and population, it provided for 2.7 percent of the ex-Soviet industrial production.

“Membership in a new union will create good opportunities for the Armenian manufacturers’ orders from Russia as well as Belarus and Kazakhstan.

“And believe [me], our people are so proficient and gluey, in the good sense, that they can take advantage of this opportunity,” Bostanjyan noted.

Armenia’s accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union is slated for entry into force on January 1, 2015.
