The United States called on the parties to Karabakh to settle the conflict by peaceful means.

The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and the U.S. Department of State already expressed  their position regarding the Armenian helicopter shot down in Nagorno-Karabakh. Our position is that we feel sorry for the incident that caused the helicopter crash, said Charge d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan Dereck Hogan, APA reported.

“We call on the parties to settle the conflict by peaceful means. Certain agreements and progress were achieved during the presidents’ meetings in Sochi, Wales and Paris. We urge the sides to continue these agreements and progress and reach a final peaceful resolution to the conflict,” said the diplomat.

The Azerbaijani armed forces violated the ceasefire and shot down an NKR Air Force helicopter on November 12. The chopper was downed during a training flight, and it crashed on the neutral zone of the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact. As a result, three pilots are believed to have been killed: the commander of the helicopter, Major Sergey Sahakyan, as well as Senior Lieutenant Sargis Nazaryan and Lieutenant Azat Sahakyan.

There were no weapons in the chopper. The adversary, on the other hand, continues to fire intensive shots toward the crash site, thus, not allowing access to the area.
