YEREVAN. – Rumor was circulating in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia that NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan had gone to Rome to meet with the Pope, Hraparak daily reported.

“We asked Naghdalyan, who is in Brussels on a working visit, ‘Will you be going to the Vatican?’ She responded that it is not her who will be going to the Vatican, but it is the Pope who will be going to Brussels.

‘“The Pope will visit Brussels, meet with the PACE [i.e., the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe] Standing Committee members. And since I, as head of the Armenian [NA] delegation [to the PACE], am a PACE Standing Committee member, likewise will meet with the Pope.

‘“The format of the meeting is not yet known. If it goes in a Q & A format, there definitely will be some questions,’” Hraparak quoted Naghdalyan as saying.
