GYUMRI. – Two people face charges in Gyumri child trafficking case, Armenia's special investigation committee reported.
Charges were brought against mother of the child and a man who intended to buy him.
Child trafficking in Armenia is punished with imprisonment for the term of 2 to 5 years.
The investigation revealed that in May 25-year-old pregnant woman, a native of Gyumri, agreed to transfer the child to a childless couple living in the same city.
The woman gave birth on September 18, and according to the agreement the man was formally recognized as a father of the child. On September 20, woman was discharged from hospital and transferred the child to his father with the condition that the money will be paid later.
