YEREVAN. – Armenia’s officials are excitedly announcing that accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union will open new prospects for Armenia’s businessmen, Zhoghovurd daily reported.

“But there is one problem about which the Armenian officials are not speaking about and are attempting to disregard it. This refers to the ongoing process of devaluation of the Russian ruble.

“[Armenia’s] Tamara Fruit Company Director Boris Hovhannisyan, whose company is already exporting products to Russia, pointed out an interesting fact to Zhoghovurd. As per Hovhannisyan, problems have emerged recently during export.

‘“We have a serious problem in terms of devaluation of the ruble. I sell [my product to them] in dollars, but they sell [it] in rubles; that’s why the product does not have a clear price,’ the businessman said,” Zhoghovurd wrote.
