STEPANAKERT. – Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR; Artsakh) President Bako Sahakyan on Sunday participated in and delivered an address at the Telethon 2014 gala dinner that was held in Los Angeles, USA.

In his remarks, the President presented life in Artsakh, its domestic and foreign policy issues and regional processes, and underscored cooperation with the Armenian diaspora, informed the Central Information Department of the Office of the NKR President.

Speaking about the construction of the Vardenis-Martakert Highway, which is selected as the main objective of this year’s telethon, too, Sahakyan considered this to be a project of key strategic and socioeconomic importance.

In addition, the NKR President awarded philanthropist Gerald Turpanjian with the Mesrop Mashtots Medal for his services rendered to Artsakh.

Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, who is Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, as well as Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Aghabekyan, Ambassador of Armenia to the US Tigran Sargsyan, and several other officials also attended this event.
