YEREVAN. – It is not the time to discuss Russia’s arms sales to Azerbaijan.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Shavarsh Kocharyan, stated the aforementioned at Monday’s parliamentary hearings on Armenia’s forthcoming accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). He noted this in response to opposition Heritage Party MP Zaruhi Postanjyan’s query as to what he has to say about the sale of weapons to Azerbaijan by EEU members Russia and Belarus.

Kocharyan added that the EEU is a purely economic organization.

“These questions can solely be raised in the platforms of foreign policy and defense. We, [Armenia,] like Russia and Belarus, are CSTO [i.e., Collective Security Treaty Organization] members. It would be appropriate to speak about these matters there,” Kocharyan noted.
