The drinking water problem is not yet finally resolved in Yeghnik village of the Aragatsotn Region in Armenia.

Village prefect Ashot Arakelyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that a commission will come and study the problem, and then a respective decision will be made.

“We have water now; the water service supplied [it]. But we [still] don’t have our own water.

“The commission has not yet come; we don’t know what will happen. At any rate, we’re not without water, [at present,]” Arakelyan said.

The Yeghnik village residents blame Aragatsotn Governor Sargis Sahakyan for their still-unresolved drinking water problem and their resultant enmity with neighboring Shgharshik village.

On November 6, the villagers had blocked the Yerevan-Gyumri Highway demanding a solution to this problem. On the next day, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan had received the regional governor and a group of representatives from the two villages to discuss this matter. As a result, Abrahamyan had instructed to form a commission, which will examine the requirement for drinking water in these two rural communities and present him a report on the results.
