YEREVAN. – The widespread poisoning, which had occurred on November 28 in the kindergarten of Yeghvard town of Armenia’s Kotayk Region, was not due to drinking water.

The Minister of Health, Armen Muradyan, told about the above-said to reporters on Thursday.

As per Muradyan, the cause of this poisoning is still unclear, but if it turns out that the children were given sausages to eat, this is a violation because sausage products are not supposed to be in the meals that are served to these age group children in kindergartens.

The minister noted that the law enforcement has to find out the subsequent facts, and the penalty to be applied to the kindergarten administration will depend on these findings.

“Our ministry has no punitive function,” Muradyan added.

He also informed that four children and one adult are still being treated at the Yeghvard hospital, and two other children are at the “Nork” Republican Infectious Clinical Hospital in capital city Yerevan.

Armen Muradyan added, however, that there is no need to fear a further spread of the infection, since it was contained on the very first day.
