YEREVAN. – The problem of domestic violence exists in all three states of the South Caucasus, UNICEF Representative in Armenia Henriette Ahrens said during a press conference on Monday.

Ahrens participated in a press conference dedicated to the launch of “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” campaign.

Speaking about the problem of selective abortions, the UNICEF representative said the Armenian government has already acknowledged the problem and is trying to work out some mechanisms to prevent it.

“In UN we understand that one program is not enough to have tangible results. We have to take more efforts, to bring more materials to raise public awareness,” Ahrens said.
