YEREVAN. – The likelihood of success of the negotiation process to restore the rail link through Abkhazia with the participation of all stakeholders has increased, political analyst Aram Safaryan said.

This involves not only Georgia, Abkhazia, Russia and Armenia, but Turkey with an increasing cargo flow to Russia after sanctions came into force.

Safaryan, head of Integration and Development NGO, is convinced that discussions on railway restoration should be held by political circles and NGOs.

During his talks with Abkhazian leadership, Russian president Vladimir Putin said it is possible to “think about” implementation of the railway on route from Sukhum to Tbilisi. This will enable to restore the link between Armenia and Russia.
