TBILISI. - Prime Ministers of Armenia and Georgia, Hovik Abrahamyan and Irakli Garibashvili, made a joint statement for the press after the bilateral talks on Thursday, Armenian News - NEWS.am reports.

Prime Minister of Armenia, in particular, noted that during the negotiations it was agreed to intencify the existing relations in the sphere of economy, infrastructure development, improved transportation links, humanitarian, and cultural spheres. According to Abrahamyan, the parties discussed the modernization of checkpoints and the construction of the Friendship Bridge at Bagratashen-Sadakhlo Checkpoint.

“In the energy sphere, the importance of building Armenia - Georgia 400-kilovolt LEP has been emphasized. In the tourism, we stressed the need for the creation of Yerevan-Tbilisi and Tbilisi-Yerevan flights. We also stressed the importance of conservation and restoration of the rich cultural and historical heritage,” PM Abrahamyan said.

In turn, the Georgian Prime Minister said that the two countries have close political and economic dialogue, despite the fact that from Jan. 1, 2015, Armenia will become a member of the Eurasian Economic Union and Georgia signed an Association Agreement with the EU.

“That will not affect our relationship, on the contrary, we will use it in the interests of our countries,” PM Garibashvili added.
