STEPANAKERT. – The adversary violated the ceasefire on the Line of Contact between the Karabakh-Azerbaijani opposing forces around 1,600 times, from December 7 to 13.

During this time, more than 18,000 shots were fired in the direction of Armenian positions, and by way of different-caliber rifle weaponry, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Defense Army reported.

Unprecedented ceasefire violations were recorded especially in the eastern sector of the Line of Contact, the Defense Army press service informed, as the adversary fired over 30 mortar shells in this direction.

The Azerbaijani armed forces also used grenade launchers, and large- and small-caliber sniper and automatic weapons throughout the week.

The NKR Defense Army vanguard units, however, gave equivalent response to the adversary as needed, and they kept the operational and tactical situation under constant surveillance.
