YEREVAN. – Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan on Monday received Laura Bailey, the World Bank’s (WB) new Country Manager for Armenia.

First, the minister congratulated the WB official on her appointment and wished her a productive work.

Next, Karapetyan presented the current state of agriculture in Armenia and the respective ongoing bilateral cooperation programs, and, in this respect, he especially underscored the Community Agricultural Resource Management and Competitiveness (CARMAC) Project which is implemented in Armenia, and together with the WB.

“The international experts have highly rated the effectiveness of the CARMAC 1 Project. I am convinced that the CARMAC 2 Project, which will be launched soon, likewise will contribute to the development of the various sectors of agriculture [in Armenia],” the minister noted.

Bailey, for her part, expressed willingness to continue close cooperation in agriculture, and she noted with satisfaction that this domain is always at the focus of the Armenian government.
