YEREVAN. – The Armenian authorities want to enter the country into the Eurasian Union.

Opposition MP, former Foreign Minister Alexander Arzumanyan noted the abovementioned at the National Assembly on Monday.

He stated that, in the case when Belarus and Kazakhstan seek to gain as many favorable conditions as possible for themselves by accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Armenia has announced, like a schoolchild preparing his homework, that it stands ready to join the EEU.

“Let’s [first] wait and see what benefits our Belarusian and Kazakh friends will receive [by joining the union], and then we’ll see what’s more beneficial for us [, Armenia],” Arzumanyan stated, in particular.

In response, Deputy Minister of Finance Vakhtang Mirumyan said that Armenia has conducted talks for a long time with the future EEU member states, and during these talks it received quite favorable conditions for accession to the Eurasian Economic Union.
