YEREVAN. - The issue of exchange rate fluctuations of Armenian national currency should be discussed confidentially but the solutions should be public, Armenian Government Head of Staff Minister Davit Harutyunyan said, Armenian News - NEWS.am reports.

According to him, the risks of currency depreciation for the public, such as the return of foreign currency loans, should be discussed after the exchange rate is stabilized. At the same time, he added, the parliament can hardly be the best forum for discussions in a professional format.

“Naturally, the MPs make political statements on the matter. However, I am not sure the parliament is the best place to look for professional solutions,” Harutyunyan said.

Therefore, according to the government member, the discussion over this matter should be confidential, while the solutions should be public.

Since the end of November, the US Dollar rate in Armenia has increased dramatically and Armenian Dram has depreciated by more than third.
