YEREVAN. – Increase in prices for some goods, even key items in the consumer basket, does not mean galloping inflation, chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) Artur Javadyan told reporters.

“Yes, there is sugar and flour, but inflation is calculated on a much broader range of goods, although, of course, with different specific weight of importance. But take, for example, beef. There are no major changes, arent't they? And for a number of goods there is noticeable decline in prices,” he said, forgetting about price for pork meat.

He recalled that in November the 12-month inflation made 2.5 percent, and CBA's expectations remain the same: by the end of this year and early 2015 inflation rate will remain in the limits of 4+/-1.5 percent.

It should be noted that prices for butter, oil, sugar and many other items have grown by 10-20 percent in recent days.
