U.S. decided to resume diplomatic relations Cuba more than 50 years after they were frozen.

The U.S. officials said the countries would move to open embassies in Washington and Havana, Reuters reported.

One of the expected moves may be normalization of banking and trade relations between the states. It is reported that Cuba’s leader Raul Castro is set to make an official statement, BBC Russian service reported.

The reason for policy shift is the release of American Alan Gross who was imprisoned in Cuba.
