YEREVAN. – The Armenian capital city Yerevan public transportation vehicle drivers, who are protesting against the most recent vehicle natural gas price hike, will not hold such protests until January 15 of next year.

One of the drivers, Yura Hambardzumyan, who had participated in Thursday’s respective working meeting at the Municipality, on Friday told about the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“They told us that the gas price has dropped, [and] the exchange rate of the [US] dollar has also dropped. They told us to wait until January 15; there shall be another meeting on that day. [But] one thing will become clear: either the gas will become cheaper again, or the [public] transport [fare] will increase, or I don’t know what they’ll do,” Hambardzumyan said. He added that if the problem is not solved positively, the drivers will again stop working.

Yura Hambardzumyan, however, also noted that both he and the other drivers are against a fare hike, and that they stand ready to protest against this, too.

“A fare increase benefits no one. We also have families; our families also use the [public] transport. We want the [vehicle natural] gas price to reduce,” he stated.
