YEREVAN. – Those officers in Armenia, who take care of the matters related to state security, are celebrating their professional day on Saturday, December 20.

State interests are closely linked also to meeting the opportunities for the progress of the individual and society, and therefore it is also about national security.

In the ex-Soviet era, this day was known as Cheka Day.

The story of this day goes back to December 20, 1917, when the Russian Emergency Commission was set up. This organization was renamed several times during the years of the ex-USSR.
