YEREVAN. – The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on Friday received European Parliament Vice-President Richard Czarnecki, who is also a member of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly Bureau.

Sargsyan underscored such meetings which, in his view, are a good opportunity to discuss Armenia-European Union (EU) relations, informed the Press Office of the President.

The President and Czarnecki, who is Polish, also noted that Armenian-Polish interstate relations are actively developing.

Furthermore, the interlocutors underscored Armenia-EU interparliamentary cooperation and discussed the avenues for enhancing this collaboration.

Separately, President Sargsyan briefed Czarnecki on the ongoing efforts by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries to achieve a pacific settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and on the respective existing challenges.

In addition, Serzh Sargsyan reflected on the meaning of commemorating, in 2015, the centenary of the Armenian Genocide, and he highlighted the need to recognize and condemn this crime to prevent it in the future.
