YEREVAN. – Speaking to Zhamanak daily, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR; Artsakh) Prime Minister Ara Harutyunyan reaffirmed that the Armenia-NKR customs checkpoint matter is closed, the daily reported.

‘“There will be no customs checkpoint [once Armenia joins the Eurasian Economic Union]; this issue has been removed from the agenda,’ the PM said.

“As for the recent situation due to the [currency] exchange rate fluctuations [in Armenia], in Ara Harutyunyan’s words, the Armenian authorities took sufficient measures to  improve the situation.

‘“Of course, the steps were not only sufficient, but a very active and very effective work was done, whereupon the dram [, the Armenian national currency,] began gaining value in Artsakh, too. At this point, the situation [in the NKR] is the same as in Armenia,’ the Premier said,” Zhamanak wrote.
