YEREVAN. – A new format of public debates is developing slowly but steadily in Armenia.

Turkologist Vahram Ter-Matevosyan told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am, as he specified the expectations the Armenian nation may have in the lead-up to the forthcoming centenary of the Armenian Genocide.

As per the turkologist, the possible options are actively discussed in recent times to launch practical steps to eliminate the consequences of the genocide and make reparations.

“It’s apparent that a change is happening in the mindset and the rhetoric. More obvious is the fact that wider and wider circles of our [Armenian] society and the Diaspora are starting to become a part of that change.

“The Armenian public realizes that numerous matters are not resolved by solely the recognition and condemnation of the genocide, [and] therefore both the form and content of the fight and the claimancy need to change.

“In 2015 we [, Armenians,] need to discern the outlines of the future response. We need to develop a new national agenda, have the courage to reject the vice, and let’s encourage the positive. I would like for the year 2015 to be a changer of the situation and the present,” Ter-Matevosyan stated, in particular.
