YEREVAN. – Armenia will receive foreign investments in energy sector amounting to $1.5-2 billion next year, economist Gagik Makaryan said.

Makaryan, chairman of the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia, believes investments should be targeted at the development of alternative energy: solar and wind energy, solar batteries.

However, there should be no political implications, as these plans are not aimed at reducing Armenia's dependence on Russian gas.

“It is about business interests. We are providing consultations for a team of investors from various countries,” he said.
