President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, who is on a working visit to Russia, participated, on Tuesday in Moscow, in the session of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Collective Security Council.

Addressing the event, Sargsyan noted that important work has been done so far within the framework of the CSTO.

In addition, the President briefed his colleagues on the present-day situation in the South Caucasus, and stressed that Armenia considers the escalation of tension around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the militarization of the region to be unacceptable.

“The documents we have signed today aim at a collective and a coordinated response to the emerging challenges and existing problems.

“I believe the creation of collective air forces will be quite an appropriate step in the sequential development of military cooperation of the CSTO member states,” the Armenian President said, in particular.

He added that cooperation with the CSTO is a main priority of Armenia’s foreign policy, and that the country stands ready to actively collaborate with its partners to ensure the implementation of the provisions of the Collective Security Treaty.
