Immediately after the rumors about the Syrian region of Kessab, which is predominantly Armenian-populated, Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia of the Armenian Apostolic Church contacted the regional bodies in charge.

The Facebook account of the Kantsasar Armenian newspaper of Syria informed that the Kessab regional bodies assured the Catholicos that the most recent media reports are inaccurate, and the situation is calm in Kessab. They added, however, that there are militias on the Turkish side of the border.

Considering that the false rumors have caused concern among the Kessab residents, the bodies in charge are working to calm the situation and put an end to the unnecessary panic.
