YEREVAN. – Dram depreciation has affected the prices of consumer goods, chairman of the Armenian State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition said.
The Commission is monitoring the essential commodities the markets of which do not have very intense competition, Artak Shaboyan told reporters. These markets include sugar, butter, flour, sunflower oil, dairy products, egg, gasoline, and others.
The Commission has requested detailed information from businesses and analyzed the situation in the first weeks of December.
“The depreciation of drama affected the price seriously. After stabilization of the exchange rate, the prices declined significantly,” Shaboyan said.
At the same time, he added, the State Commission is not monitoring the market of meat, nuts, apples where there are enough competing companies to shape the market price.
