YEREVAN. – Owing to the migrant workers, a huge amount of US dollars always enters the market in Armenia on the pre-New Year days, and this somewhat reduces the exchange rate of the dollar in the country, Iravunk daily reported.

“And now is no exception, but a[n] [exchange] rate reduction is not observed [this year].

“Sources close to the banking circles [of Armenia] told us that this is not happening [this year] because the CB [i.e., the Central Bank] is making shadow interventions to keep the [exchange] rate of the dollar at the same level.

“One can only guess what interests the CB has and which circles’ interests it serves in [doing] this,” Iravunk wrote.
