Turkey and Armenia should not expect that they will settle the dispute over mass killings of Armenians during the World War on the 100th anniversary in 2015, adviser to Turkish PM Etyen Mahcupyan said in an interview with AFP.

He believes 2015 will be “a tough” year because of the anniversary, therefore major breakthroughs would have to wait for later, Global Post reported.

"I believe symbolic steps could be taken this year and a more emotional relationship could be established. But I believe more political or historical issues will be left to the coming years and then it will be easier," he said.

Mahcupyan believes the priority for the future should be establishing relations with Armenia. Asked about Rusisa-Turkey relations that are becoming closer, he also said that Russia could play a role “that facilitates the issue”.
