YEREVAN. – Flour enrichment should not be mandatory in Armenia, “For Sustainable Human Development” NGO Director Karine Danielyan stated at a press conference on Saturday.

In her words, considering the already high presence of heavy metals in Armenia, they should not be enriched by including them in nutrition, too.

Danielyan added, however, that even though this problem is complicated and new and it is still too early to say anything, this enrichment is unlikely to be widespread.

“I don’t argue; there are people who need large amounts of vitamins and trace elements. Let there be a selection in the [food] market for them, too; but solely for those who really need it,” Karine Danielyan said.
