Russian official confirmed the start of supplying coal and electricity to Ukraine and said it proves Russian President Vladimir Putin's goodwill.

“This proves President Putin’s political goodwill to provide support for Ukrainians, particularly before New Year,” said Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for Russian leader.

Earlier Russian Vice-Premier Dmitry Kozak said Russia would supply 500,000 tonnes of coal to Ukraine per month for solving its energy problems, TASS reported.
