YEREVAN. – The hidden objective of the three non-government parliamentary forces (Armenian National Congress, Prosperous Armenia, and Heritage) is to prevent a change of the current government in the country, political analyst Stiopa Safaryan said at a press conference on Monday.

He added that the signing of the treaty on Armenia’s forthcoming accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), the inflation, and the market destabilization in the country towards the end of the year were sufficient for any non-government political force to launch major protests.

“The opposition of Armenia [, however,] has put itself in the Russian arena. Naturally, they could not have gone against [Russia] and lead protests.

“This situation, which is going to grow worse next year in terms of adapting to the EEU economic criteria, will complicate the situation even more and further weaken the [Armenian] government’s position,” Safaryan specifically noted.
