YEREVAN. – Armenian State Pedagogical University astronomy lecturer Sergey Nersisyan, 67, plays the role of Santa Claus because of his appearance.
“I have this beard since the age of 24; this is my natural look. At first, I did not see myself as Santa Claus, but age does its thing [as the years go by],” Nersisyan said, in particular.
He added that, whether he liked it or not, he found himself playing Santa for the past forty years.
“I’m Santa Claus not solely in Januaries, but, as children would say, all year,” Nersisyan noted.
He also stated that when children see him outside, they often ask for their New Year gifts.
In the astronomy lecturer’s words, his resemblance to the fictional character helps in communicating with his students.
Sergey Nersisyan also expressed a conviction that the tale of Santa Claus must be preserved.
