Renowned Italian star Claudia Cardinale arrived in Yerevan on July 10 evening. The aircraft was met by hundreds of fans, NEWS.am correspondent reports from Zvartnots International Airport.

“I am happy to be in Armenia,” she said, noting that film “Mayrig” (Mother) by Henri Verneuil linked her with the country. “I was lucky to play the role of mother in this film and get acquainted with Armenian history.  Verneuil wanted me to play the history of his mother,” she added.

Canadian director Atom Egoyan and his spouse Arsine Khanjian, as well as French director Claire Denis arrived in Armenia by the same aircraft.

The opening ceremony of the 7th Golden Apricot International Film Festival will take place on July 11 in Yerevan.
