YEREVAN. – Construction of new power unit of the Armenian NPP will start in 2018, Energy Minister Yervand Zakharyan told reporters.
He recalled that Armenia and Russia signed an inter-governmental agreement, according to which Russia will grant a loan of $270 million to extend operation of the NPP till 2027. In addition, a $30-million grant will be provided.
Construction of a new power unit will start simultaneously to be over by 2027 when the old one is closed.
