STEPANAKERT. – Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR; Artsakh) President Bako Sahakyan on Friday attended a meeting of the NKR Defense Army Military Council, during which the activities carried out in 2014 and the 2015 Action Plan were summed up.

In his remarks, Sahakyan touched upon the process of army-building, stressed the achievements and existing challenges, and considered the activities carried out in 2014 as satisfactory, informed the Central Information Department of the Office of the NKR President. He also highlighted that the tasks which the Defense Army fulfills have always been among the most significant and pivotal directions for Artsakh.

Speaking about the 2015 Action Plan, the NKR President noted that this year’s political agenda is quite full with important nationwide and state events that require additional alertness and readiness also on the part of Artsakh’s armed forces. He noted that, in such times, blatant ceasefire violations and attempts to destabilize the situation were among the basic foundations of the adversary’s policy. According to President Sahakyan, however, the aggressor should always know that we are stronger and more courageous, and we will give a deserving response to any encroachment upon our independence, security, and dignity.

The NKR President also gave specific instructions to the defense minister and the supreme command unit of the Defense Army to resolve the existing matters on a proper level.   

Defense minister of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan and several other officials also participated in the consultation.
