Over 2,000 people gathered for the funeral ceremony of Michael Assaturyan, 16, that tool place in an Armenian cathedral of Marseille, Nouvelles d'Arménie writes.

Among them were the leaders of Armenian organizations, representatives of the clergy and officials. Mayor of Marseille  Jean-Claude Gaudin,his deputies Didier Parakian, Martine Vassal, MP Valerie Boyer and other officials attended the funeral ceremony.

French-Armenian high school student Michael Assaturyan was killed on Monday. The incident occurred after classes, and nearby the entrance of the school he attended in Marseille. Assaturyan was stabbed by the brothers of a girl with whom he had earlier argued. Assaturyan was a citizen of France, whereas his parents are Armenia nationals.
