YEREVAN. – The most important event of the year was the successful completion of the process of Armenia’s joining the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU); this stems from the country’s strategic interests, and it opens new opportunities for the economic development of Armenia, the MFA annual report stated.

As per the report, the treaty on the establishment of the EEU was signed on May 29, 2014 in the Kazakh capital city of Astana. And on October 10, Armenia signed the treaty on accession to the EEU.

All through the year past, the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council held three meetings at the level of the presidents of the EEU member countries, and Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan also attended these talks.

In addition, two sessions were convened at the level of the heads of governments of these countries, and Armenia likewise participated in these sessions at the level of the Prime Minister.
