YEREVAN. – Newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills is expected new ambassador in mid February, U.S. Charge d'affaires Clark Price told Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent.

“We are expecting him in mid February. Nothing is certain yet, but that is when we are expecting, Price said.

Charge d'affaires hopes it is going to be a great year in U.S. - Armenia relations.

“The new ambassador has a background in Armenia, he was the first desk officer for Armenia after the fall of Soviet Union, and he knows Armenia for 20-25 years. He is enthusiast to come and he is interested in economic growth and I think he will be very committed to that,” the diplomat added.

As reported earlier, Mills worked in Beirut, Malta, Paris, Dublin, Islamabad, Riyadh and London. In early 90s he also worked as a desk officer for the newly independent Armenia and Azerbaijan, followed by a tour as a political officer at the U.S. Consulate in St. Petersburg, Russia.

His foreign languages are French and Russian.
