YEREVAN. – Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, together with Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia of the Armenian Apostolic Church and several senior officials, on Wednesday paid a visit to the Yerablur Military Pantheon in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.

On the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the Armed Forces of Armenia, the Catholicos placed flowers to the monument devoted to the fallen Armenian military heroes, and extended his congratulations to the Armenian army (PHOTOS).

“The Lord, thanks to the Armenian army, keeps our native land in peace, and this peace is given to us at a heavy cost; at the cost of the lives of our soldiers,” Karekin II specifically stated.

Reflecting on the recent tension on the border, the Catholicos said that Azerbaijan wants to keep Armenia and the Armenian people in a tense state.

“And we are remorseful that we are having casualties. [But] we are confident that the [retaliatory] actions taken by the Armenian army can cause restraint,” Karekin II specifically noted.
