At the meeting that was convened in the United Nations Office at Geneva, Switzerland, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc stated that the objective of his country is friendship and peace with Armenia.
Arinc argued that the claims, according to which Turkey has blockaded Armenia, are unfounded, reported Dunyabulteni website of Turkey.
“Transit transportation between Armenia and third countries can be carried out via Georgia, Iran, and Turkey. Also, there are direct flights between Turkey and Armenia,” the Turkish deputy PM said.
And in response to the Armenian delegation’s question with respect to the court case into the murder of Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink—the founder and chief editor of Agos Armenian bilingual weekly of Istanbul, and who was shot dead on January 19, 2007 outside the office of his weekly—, Bulent Arinc noted that the prime minister of Turkey issued a message on the eighth anniversary of Dink’s death, and in which he showed a human point of view regarding this trial.
