YEREVAN. – A canonization ceremony will be held on April 23 for the first time after an interval of 400 years, and for the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide.

The Head of the Conceptual Issues Office of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Tuesday.

Bishop Galstanyan added that this canonization will bear the notion of collective of martyrdom.

The ceremony will also bring together the spiritual leaders from the eastern sister churches of the Armenian Church, and it will conclude at 19:15 (7:15pm) symbolizing the centenary of the Armenian Genocide.

In addition, one hundred bells will simultaneously sound in all Armenian churches throughout the world, and those in attendance will honor the genocide victims with a minute of silence.
