YEREVAN. – The arms race in the South Caucasus must be stopped, speaker of the Georgian parliament Davit Usupashvili said in Yerevan.

The current situation in the region must be solved through talks, not weapons, Usupashvili said during a joint briefing with his Armenian counterpart Galust Sahakyan.

“It is necessary to have relations based on friendship. The arms race must be stopped,” he added.

The Azerbaijani side has dramatically increased the number of ceasefire violation cases and provocations at the line of contact with Karabakh and the border with Armenia since January.
