YEREVAN. – The Armenian parliament rejected a draft statement in genocides against the nations of the Ottoman Empire, including Yezidis, submitted by Heritage MP Zaruhi Postanjyan.
Nine people voted for, six opposed the bill, while 65 members of RPA faction abstained from voting.
Vice Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov said the parliamentarians had already made a joint statement on genocide of the nations of Ottoman Empire.
The draft statement proposed to condemn genocide in the Ottoman Empire against the Greeks, Assyrians, Yezidis and other religious and ethnic minorities as the gravest crime against humanity.
