YEREVAN. – The opposition is lame in three legs, Armenian National Assembly (NA) Vice-Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan said in the parliament on Tuesday.

Naghdalyan noted the aforesaid in response to opposition Armenian National Congress NA Faction Head Levon Zurabyan’s statement that the opposition is “crippled.”

“The opposition is not crippled, but rather our colleague has injured its leg, and the opposition, in my view, is lame, and it is lame in three legs,” Naghdalyan said. “Opposition doesn’t mean [just] criticism. After the criticism, you need to propose steps to solve problems.”

The NA deputy chairperson also recalled that the international observer groups have unanimously recorded that the parliamentary and presidential elections in Armenia were conducted in accordance with the law.

“My colleagues [of the opposition] also love to talk about the ‘political isolation’ of Armenia. But with how many isolated countries does the European Union collaborate?” she added. “You are speaking about a drop in the amount of investments. But is this particular to Armenia alone? There is no such thing.”

In conclusion, Hermine Naghdalyan advised not to link the good phenomena in Armenia to the country’s opposition, and the bad occurrences to the incumbent authorities.

To note, the National Assembly is deliberating on the draft statement with respect to a crisis in governance.
