YEREVAN. – The official statistics have already begun confirming the predictions that economic crises await Armenia this year, Zhoghovurd daily reported.

“According to official statistics, the industrial output fell by 6.3 percent in January of this year, as compared to the same period last year, trade turnover decreased by 7.4 percent, electricity production decreased by 19.7 percent, and the exports [dropped] by 21.9 percent.

“What is more, the currently occurring processes in Armenia suggest that the state of economy [in the country] will increasingly grow worse, and there is no single factor which may convey an optimistic expectation.

“The Armenian authorities [, on the other hand,] are busy with solely one thing; they are attempting to rope in new loans from international institutions, but they still have not succeeded in this work as well,” Zhoghovurd wrote.
