YEREVAN. – The situation on the border is tense, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, the Press Secretary of the Minister of Defense of Armenia, told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Hovhannisyan added that the ceasefire violations by the Azerbaijani side have increased. He noted that even though the adversary made several sabotage attempts recently, it managed to approach the Armenian military positions solely once, but the Armenian side was able to draw them back. As a result, however, the Armenian side has two casualties.

Hovhanisyan also noted that, after the aforementioned provocation, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Defense Army servicemen have hit three Azerbaijani soldiers.

The Armenian side draws the attention of international organizations on this incident, and recalls that the entire responsibility of these severe consequences falls on Azerbaijan.   

On February 28, the Azerbaijani armed forces had launched a sabotage and intelligence-gathering infiltration attempt toward several outposts of the NKR Defense Army. The latter’s vanguard units, however, drew the adversary back to their original positions and caused them casualties in the process.     

But sadly, Armenian military servicemen Artak Aghekyan (born in 1979) and Hayk Baroyan (born in 1995) also were killed during the skirmish.
