Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia Yervand Zakharyan, during his visit to Germany, met with the German government-owned KfW Development Bank Board member, Roland Siller, and the Director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia at KfW Development Bank, Eva Witt.

The parties discussed the course of the ongoing KfW bank-funded regional programs, especially the Armenia-Georgia electricity transmission line construction project, and implementing its second phase earlier and simultaneously with the first phase.

Zakharyan thanked the German government and the KfW bank for assisting in implementation of Armenia’s energy sector projects. Siller, for his part, noted that Armenia is a key partner for them, and the energy sector is a key direction in the KfW funding.

In Germany, Minister Yervand Zakharyan also met with the Parliamentary State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Uwe Beckmeyer. The interlocutors conferred on Armenian-German cooperation in the energy sector. They also noted that collaboration is quite productive within the framework of the Armenian-German Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

Zakharyan thanked the German government for its continued assistance in the energy projects in Armenia. In turn, Beckmeyer noted that his ministry will assist Armenia also in attracting German investments in renewable energy.
