YEREVAN. – Armenia is interested in increasing the exports of its agricultural products to the Chinese market.

The Minister of Agriculture of Armenia, Sergo Karapetyan, noted the above-said during his talk Tuesday with new Chinese Ambassador Tiang Erlung.

Congratulating the ambassador on commencing his diplomatic mission in Armenia, the minister expressed a conviction that Armenian-Chinese relations will get new stimulus during the ambassador’s tenure, reported the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Reflecting on agricultural cooperation between the two countries, Karapetyan noted that ever since Armenia’s independence in 1991, the Chinese government has provided considerable technical assistance to the country’s agriculture. In addition, the minister proposed to discuss the avenues for introducing in Armenia the Chinese model of agricultural cooperatives.

Ambassador Tiang Erlung, for his part, stated that he is interested in developing and deepening agricultural relations between the two countries, and expressed readiness to assist in the expansion of this cooperation.

In this connection, the minister proposed holding an agricultural business forum in Armenia.

At the end of the talk, the Armenian minister of agriculture asked the ambassador to convey to his Chinese associate the invitation to visit Armenia in the current year.
