In the run-up to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Turkey, the second Armenian has expressed a wish to become a member of the Turkish parliament.  

Istanbul Armenian Nivart Bakircioglu announced that she wants to run for MP candidate by the pro-Kurdish “Peoples’ Democratic Party” (HDP), reported Demokrathaber website of Turkey.

She also stressed that her heart’s desire is to become an MP candidate from Van, the capital city of the ancient Armenian Kingdom of Urartu.

Bakircioglu, also highlighting the importance of the centennial of the Armenian Genocide, noted that there needs be Armenian members of the Turkish parliament 100 years after the genocide.

As reported earlier, Armenian soap maker Zekeriya Sabunci from Turkey’s Mardin Province had recently submitted an application to be nominated an MP candidate by the HDP.

Turkey’s next parliamentary election is slated for June 7.
